Monument 2
Monument 2, entitled “Peace & Harmony” was created by artist, Lauren Voiers. It was inspired by a man who is the very embodiment of the concept to give peace a chance, as he once sang so powerfully, John Lennon. The monument was dedicated by Julian and Cynthia Lennon on John’s 70th birthday in Liverpool England, where four lads including Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr were born, grew up and formed The Beatles.
Understandably, the dedication of “Peace & Harmony on that day in October was an even bigger event than the first monument, perhaps owing to the still-worldwide appeal of John Lennon and the Beatles. The BBC estimated that the coverage alone was seen by over 1.2 billion all over the world.
Artist’s Biography
Lauren Voiers’ journey to becoming an artist was the result of a severe case of bipolar disorder in her teens. Art became her calming influence and she spent countless hours painting, discovering she had a talent for artistic creation in the process. After posting some photos of her paintings online, she was discovered by Ben Valenty, who tapped her to become the artist of the second monument slated for the European continent.
Like Nechita before her, Voiers’ Peace & Harmony began life as a painting. After many months of work, the full-sized monument, standing some 18-feet tall, was ready to be painted. Voiers’ monument masterfully blended a piano keyboard and guitar, Lennon’s main instruments, and its title refers to Lennon’s twin passions, peace, and music (harmony).
