Artist Statement
This painting came from a moment when I felt like I was being pulled in different directions—by emotions, expectations, and who I’m becoming.
As a 12-year-old, I’m starting to see the world differently, and sometimes that makes me feel like there are many versions of me trying to exist at once.
The largest face in the center represents the “me” that everyone sees—strong, colorful, and trying to understand the world. The face behind it is the quieter version of myself, the part that holds back thoughts, feelings, and dreams I don’t always know how to share.
I chose bold colors to show how powerful emotions can be—blue for calmness, green for growth, yellow for courage, and red for love and strength. Even though the faces look different, they are connected, because they are all part of me.
This artwork is about learning to accept every part of myself, even the ones I don’t always show. It’s a journey of reflection, self-acceptance, and understanding who I am becoming.
