Artist Statement
This painting was inspired by the book The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan, which sparked my fascination with Egyptian mythology. As I read about Carter and Sadie’s adventures, I imagined what it would feel like to be pulled into a world filled with powerful gods, ancient secrets, and magical symbols.
In this artwork, I painted myself writing in a giant book—where each word brings the world of Egypt to life around me. From the pyramids and pharaohs to the Eye of Horus and the ankh, I tried to capture the energy, mystery, and courage found in the story.
The flying pencils and doves represent imagination and freedom—the way stories lift us out of the ordinary and into something extraordinary. This piece is a celebration of how books can transport us to magical realms and how art can help us tell those stories in our own unique way.
